Get to Know Us

In mid-2016, four young Cambodians from rural villages shared a dream: to give village children the education they never had. With hope, determination, and the knowledge and skills we had gained through our own journeys, we took the first step. The beginning was incredibly hard—resources were scarce, challenges felt endless, and sometimes it seemed impossible to keep going.

Then Ben came into our story. With his guidance, support, and unwavering belief in our mission, he helped turn our fragile dream into a real school. Without him, we don’t know how long it would have taken—or if we could have succeeded at all. His support reminded us that when passion meets the right people, even the smallest spark can light a path for countless children.

Today, nearly a decade later, the Village of English School stands as a place of hope, learning, and opportunity—where thousands of village children have gained knowledge, built confidence, and grown into strong, capable young people.

Our Vision

Cambodian children deserve the chance to learn, grow, and achieve their dreams—no matter where they come from.

Our Mission

To equip village children and high-school students with strong English skills, discipline, and positive character, empowering them to dream bigger, overcome challenges, and build a better future for themselves and their communities.

Where Our Journey Began

The Village of English School began with nothing more than determination and the knowledge, skills, and experiences the founders carried with them. They started with almost nothing—just an empty building with a roof, generously offered by a family member of one co-founder so their mission could begin without cost.

They started small, setting up only a few classrooms in the beginning. The four founders did everything themselves: building student tables and chairs, painting, designing signs, organizing spaces, and solving every challenge that came their way. Every corner of the school was shaped by their own hands and their shared belief in what this school could become.

In those early days, there were no staff beyond the four founders, each stepping into multiple roles to keep the dream alive. Chhun Eang and Samnang taught English with patience and passion. Saren set up the computer lab, designs, and handled all technical needs. Leang Srun oversaw administration and finances to keep the school running smoothly. Meanwhile, Leang Hun managed construction, classroom setup, and all water and electrical systems, ensuring the building was safe and ready for students. Together, they carried the entire foundation of the school on their shoulders.

During that time, they even lived inside the school. With no separate place to sleep, they rested on the classroom floor—the same rooms where students would later learn. The nights were uncomfortable, but the mission was greater than the hardship.

What began as a humble effort inside one empty building has now become a growing force for change in the community.
