Enhanced Student Safety & Facility Development — Budget Request: US $2,550

The Village of English School (VOE) aims to provide a high-quality English program for rural students in Kompong Speu province. Recently, the number of students has been increasing significantly reaching 1000 students. Hence, critical infrastructure enhancements and outdoor facilities are urgently needed to ensure students safety, improve accessibility, and support physical development.


We seek funding to complete three essential projects: the installation of a secure entry gates, the layering of a concrete floor in front of the school, the purchase of a new, modern playground system.

Installing sturdy, lockable iron gates at school entrances — to control access, prevent unauthorized entry, and ensure the security of students and staff.

Laying down concrete flooring in the school’s front courtyard to prevent flooding and muddy, unsafe grounds during rain; improves accessibility and cleanliness.

Outdoor Playground

Purchasing and installing safe, age-appropriate play equipment (swings, slides, etc.) and safety surfacing — to encourage physical activity, creative play, social interaction, and motor-skill development.

Why This Matters

  • Safety & Controlled Access — A secure gate system will ensure that only authorized persons enter the premises, significantly reducing potential risks. This aligns with best practices in school security and facility management for creating safe learning environments.

  • Resilience & Accessibility — The concrete flooring will provide a stable, clean surface for high-foot-traffic areas even during heavy rains, preventing slips, and water-related hazards. Well-maintained grounds are key to maintaining a safe environment.

  • Holistic Student Development — A dedicated playground promotes physical health, social interaction, creativity, and well-rounded development — complementing academic learning with opportunities for play and physical activity.
